Students in the professional phase of the program (the last two years) must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average with no grade below "C" in required courses.

In addition to meeting academic and clinical education requirements, students must exhibit the personal qualities associated with patient welfare and professional trust.

For example, the Respiratory Therapy Student:

RT seniors during Pediatrics class
  • Reports patient information in a complete and concise manner
  • Documents complete, concise and accurate records
    (ie., labs/logs etc)
  • Charts all pertinent information
  • Communicates pertinent information to other health care professionals / fellow classmates / faculty
  • Initiates appropriate communication to enhance patient care
  • Demonstrates tactfulness
  • Exhibits sound judgment
  • Takes direction, suggestions, and ideas in a cooperative manner
  • Exhibits self direction
  • Displays integrity, respect and consideration for patients and coworkers / classmates / faculty
  • Exhibits courteous and pleasant demeanor
  • Practices Respiratory care using safe, sound judgment
  • Demonstrates respect for property and equipment belonging to program and clinical site
  • Accepts supervision in a cooperative manner
  • Participates in educational activities as an active learner
  • Joins state and national associations
  • Assists in program evaluations
  • Participates in group activities to enhance learning process
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance / punctuality
  • Punctual in meeting deadlines for class / clinical
