Shawna joined MU's RT program faculty in 2005 after practicing respiratory therapy for over 13 years with emphasis on neonatal and pediatric critical care and transport in Missouri and Texas. She began teaching in the field of respiratory therapy in 2001 and has expanded her teaching interests to include medical ethics. Shawna graduated with an AAS degree in respiratory therapy from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1994 and a BS degree in Health Care Management from SIUC in 2001. She completed her Master's degree in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2005 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at UMSL. Shawna lives in Boonville with her husband, David, and their cats, Jack and Grace.
