Criminal Background Check
(Disclosure)

All students are required to have Criminal Background Checks. The Majority of your fieldwork placements will require the completion of a criminal background check. Depending onthe specific placement this may also include fingerprint check and clearance fromthe Missouri Division of Family Services and Missouri Division of Aging. Responsibility is directed to students and facilities.
The Disciplinary Action Committee of the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy, Inc. may decide to deny an individual the opportunity to take the certification examination for may deny an individual certification if a person has been convicted of a felony. An unofficial NBCOT review of an individual's potential for sitting for the exam may be requested. For more information contact: NBCOT, 800 S. Frederick Ave., Suite 200, Gaithersburg, MD 20877-4150, Phone: (301) 99007979 Additionally, licensing regulations in many states deny licensing for those with felony convictions; however, this is unually related to those felony convictions that are related to the performance of occupational therapy practice.
