Radiologic Science's Mary Sebacher

Mary Sebacher, M.Ed., R.T.(R)

Mary was Director of the Radiography program from 1978-2003. After attempting retirement, she decided to come back and help out the Radiography program as Assistant Clinical Instructor.

Prior to coming to the University of Missouri - Columbia, Mary worked as a staff radiographer at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Although this took place a number of years ago, she still has fond memories of the people she worked with there. She has been actively involved in professional organizations over the years serving as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists as well as on various committees.

Among Ms Sebacher's responsibilities at the University, she particularly enjoys teaching, advising students, and serving on committees both within the School of Health Related Professions and on campus. One of her greatest joys (besides her two boys) is hearing from graduates of the program. Mary's current projects include working with faculty in the new Cardiopulmonary and Diagnostic Sciences Department in the development of new courses and restructuring of existing ones as part of the group of core courses that all of the students in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine and Respiratory Therapy are taking. She is also involved in efforts to integrate Problem Based Learning into the curriculum. Her favorite area of interest right now is in converting her class lectures into computer presentations and finding other ways to incorporate computer software programs into the curriculum.
