Missouri Centers for Independent Living

Centers for Independent Living provide four core services:

Advocacy - Training and skills development is provided to increase consumers’ ability to advocate for their own needs. When a consumer has exhausted self advocacy options, individual advocacy services will also be provided.

Independent Living Skills Training - Training is provided for management of attendant services, pre-employment skills, goal setting to achieve increased independence, interpersonal skills, utilization of services available, etc.

Peer Support - Staff and volunteers who have acquired positive strategies for managing their disabilities assist consumers to explore options, solve problems and develop new skills.

Information and Referral - Information is provided for consumers on a wide variety of topics related to disability and persons with disabilities. Requests are researched and information provided in appropriate formats. Referrals are made to other agencies or providers for existing community services.
