Joe Hinkebein, PhD, ABPP, is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Health Psychology. Dr. Hinkebein provides clinical services to the inpatient rehabilitation floors, specifically the Neuro-rehabilitation and Brain Injury Team. Dr. Hinkebein obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1990, and completed Psychology Internship at the VA Medical Center of Minneapolis. He has been a licensed psychologist since 1991. He was awarded a Diplomate in Rehabilitation Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology in 2000.
Dr. Hinkebein's current research activities include the neurobehavioral correlates of acquired smell dysfunction after brain injury and rehabilitation outcome. Dr. Hinkebein is currently Book Review Editor for the journal Brain Injury. He also serves on the Brain Injury Association of Missouri's state board of directors. He is active in the Rehabilitation Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology in November, 2004.
