David Mount, Psy.D.Clinical services offered by the Department of Health Psychology include:


photo of spinal cord injury patients enjoying Marching MizzouRehabilitation Psychology: Inpatient psychological services for individuals who have experienced potentially disabling injuries and illnesses are provided at Rusk Rehabilitation Center, a 60 bed, state-of-the-art rehabilitation center. Outpatient services are provided at the Department of Health Psychology offices located on the west end of the first floor of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Populations served include individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, with specialty teams in neurorehabilitation (e.g., traumatic brain injury, stroke, and neurological disorders), orthopedic rehabilitation (e.g., spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal disorders, orthopedic trauma), and geriatric rehabilitation (e.g., debilitation, dementia, stroke). Services are focused on assisting individuals and their families to adjust to disabilities, identifying and accommodating to impairments, and to identifying appropriate community resources.


Child Neuropsychology Clinic: Neuropsychological and psychological services for children and adolescents with developmental and neurological disorders affecting cognition, behavior, affect, and social skills. These services are provided to numerous departments within MU Health Sciences Center, including Child Health, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Family Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery. The Child Neuropsychology Clinic, located at the Department of Health Psychology offices on the west end of the first floor of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, also receives referrals from health care providers, educators, public agencies and families throughout central Missouri. Rural outreach services are provided via MU Telehealth.


Adult Neuropsychological Laboratories: Neuropsychological services are provided to adults with all types of central nervous system disease and injury. Services focus on the evaluation and treatment of cognitive, affective, and behavioral impairments associated with brain dysfunction. Populations served include individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumor, Alzheimers dementia, Parkinsons dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, lupus, etc. Adult Neuropsychological Laboratories provides consultative services to numerous MU Health Sciences Center departments including Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Psychiatry. Services are provided at the Department of Health Psychology offices located on the west end of the first floor of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Provision of services also extends to multiple district offices of the Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, including Columbia, Jefferson City, Rolla, Kirksville, Hannibal, Sedalia, and Chillicothe.


Outreach Services: Owing to the reputation of the Department of Health Psychology as a provider of high quality psychological services in rehabilitation and neuropsychology, demand for outreach services to underserved areas of the state has been high. Outreach services are also provided in the Missouri city of Mount Vernon, with the provision of rehabilitation and neuropsychological services to patients of the Missouri Rehabilitation Center and to the southwest region district offices of the Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
