 Janet Farmer, Ph.D., ABPP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Psychology and the Department of Child Health at the University of Missouri-Columbia Health Sciences Center. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Kansas and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her internship and post-doctoral fellowship were also completed at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Currently, she directs the Division of Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology program in the Department of Health Psychology. In this role, she conducts inpatient and outpatient neuropsychological assessments of children with neurodevelopmental problems. She is also the Clinical Director of an interdisciplinary training program for professionals who work with children with special health care needs. Dr. Farmer has earned a Diplomat in Rehabilitation Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and is an elected board member on the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology. She is also a fellow of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Farmers research interests focus on children with special health care needs and health service delivery systems for children and adults with chronic health conditions. She has received grant funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, NIH/National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders, the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau, the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth and the Missouri Foundation for Health. She also is active in health policy initiatives, including the DHHS Primary Care Health Policy Fellowship, the MU Center for Health Policy, and the MU Center for Family and Policy Research.
